State Urban &Regional Planning Bill scales second reading at AKHA By Etim Homage

The Akwa Ibom State Urban and Regional Planning Bill, 2018 sponsored by the member representing Mkpat-Enin, Hon. Otobong Nde have successfully passed through a second reading.
 The bill which was titled; a 'draft bill for a law for the control of physical/Urban and Regional planning activities' seeking to establish a regulatory board to be called "Urban and Regional Planning Board, and Area Planning Authorities in Akwa Ibom State and for all other purposes connected therewith ".
Speaking on the bill, the lead sponsor, Hon. Ndem explained that the bill intends to address indiscriminate erection of structures in the urban areas.
Reacting, The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Barr Onofiok Luke committed the bill to appropriate House which is a Committee on Lands and Housing.
The committee is required to submit their report in three weeks time.

Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to resume on Thursday, 24th May, 2018.
