GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL FELICITATES WITH CHILDREN by Ukpono Etuk

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has urged parents to take particular interest in moulding their children and instilling the right values so they will become upstanding citizens and contribute to the socio-political development of the State and the Nation in general.

In a statement to celebrate the Children’s Day, 2018, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Emmanuel said the future of our nation, how far we can compete with the rest of the world, depends on our investments today on our children “we are living in an increasingly shrinking globalized world, where technology has reduced the vast expanse of lands and oceans into a tiny community. Nations across the Continents are spending huge resources to prepare their children to compete in the market place of ideas. We must not relent in ensuring that our children are not left behind. That is why we are spending huge resources in education, recruiting the best teachers and providing the right tools and atmosphere for our children to learn.”
The Governor called on parents to shape their children with the right mental attitude and values “In the United States, children are taught the essence of American exceptionalism; that they are citizens of an exceptional country, and they must carry the torch of excellence; this, they have internalized. In Akwa Ibom State, I am proud to say that our dakkkada philosophy has been internalized by our children. I call on parents to instill the right values in their children. The foundation of development starts from home.”
The Governor commended FEYReP for bringing the issue of the Girl Child on the front burner and restated Government’s readiness to use the Child’s Right Act to punish those who put our children’s lives and future in jeopardy.
