A new Taylor Swift era is upon us, and that means Swifties around the world are begging for a golden ticket to one of her secret sessions. 

Ahead of an album release, it's become a tradition for the pop star to handpick a group of fans to her home for a private listening party. On Friday, she kicked off her very first Lover secret session in London, where a very exclusive group of Swift loyalists gathered to mingle with their idol and listen to Lover in its entirety. 

While attendees are sworn to secrecy (the T. Swift code of honor is a thing, OK?!), there are few details that have made their way out since the session wrapped. Let's break it down, shall we?

Lover Has Something For Every Music Fan:

If there was one word that guests had to describe Taylor's new album it would be "BOP!" As one fan described, "There are some really stripped-down stuff and some hardcore bops. But all in all, amazing. If reputation wasn't your cup of tea, I am sure you will love Lover." 

Break out the Kleenex, because Taylor is going deep on Lover. One fan went as far to say they almost cried "uncontrollably" after hearing one track, adding, "A few of the other songs made me tear up a little... But that was 'cause they were very sweet and romantic!"

Another fan compared Lover to 1989, explaining, "It was definitely a mixed bag, but [a] very real and raw album."

After writing an emotional letter to Taylor describing how her hit song "ME!" inspired him on his coming out journey, the fan revealed that she read the piece out loud during the secret session.

Buhari’s Aide: “DSS Only Saved Him From Setting Self Ablaze”

Lauretta Onochie, the social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the Department of State Security (DSS) saved Omoyele Sowore from setting himself ablaze.

Mrs. Onochie said this on Saturday as her reaction following the arrest of Mr. Sowore, a former presidential candidate.

Sowore was arrested at his apartment early Saturday and his phone seized when he tried to raise alarm over the invasion.

The arrest is believed to be connected to the #RevolutionNow protests which are set to commence nationwide on August 5.

Onochie, who has been severally involved in false claims, alleged that Sowore had threatened to set himself on fire in protest to President Buhari’s administration.

While responding to a tweet, she wrote:

“This Is What DSS Saved Sowore from. (See image) With talks about setting himself ablaze, it’s in order for the security operatives, whose role it is to safeguard both lives and properties, to take him into custody to prevent him from harming himself and get him the help he needs,”

Former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar has however joined several others in calling for the release of Sowore.

Just In: Burna Boy plans to have babies with Stefflon Don

Burna Boy has revealed his plans to have babies with his girlfriend, rapper Stefflon Don, away from public attention.

The ‘Anybody’ singer, expressed the hope to emulate his parents, Samuel and Bose Ogulu, in bringing up his children on a radio show, Beats1, on Hot 97 FM in the U.S. recently.

The singer who also declared his love for Don, a British rapper and singer, stressed that their affair was not a publicity stunt and that it means so much to them.

“It’s not the business part of us; it’s our life. I’m trying to make it right because I don’t want to bring a kid into this life for anyone to be disturbing.

“Looking or wondering what’s Steflon Don and Burna Boy’s kid doing. I want to raise a kid the way I was raised,” he said.

The ‘Killin Dem’ singer pointed out that his relationship with Don was deep and that he would not want the details to be in public space.

“It’s lovely (being with Stefflon Don). I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just that I try to now kind of like keep it between us.

“I don’t want to be putting our thing out there in front of everybody anymore. Like you’d be there and you can see it but I don’t want to put it out there for everyone,” he said.

Burna Boy had, in March, revealed that Don was not just his girlfriend but ‘wifey’, in an interview with Ebro.

Few months after, Stefflon Don had also revealed how she met Burna Boy in Ghana and how she hoped they have kids together. She already has a boy from previous affair.

Katy Perry and her team ordered to pay $2.7m to Gospel rapper Flame for 'copying his song'

Flame, a US gospel rapper has been awarded $2.7 million in damages against Katy Perry in the latest high-profile copyright ruling rocking the American music industry. 

Katy Perry was sued 5 years ago by Flame and two co-writers who claimed that her 2013 hit “Dark Horse” was stolen from his and Lecrae’s song “Joyful Noise” which was released in 2008.

Though the Pop singer said she had never heard of Gray’s 2009 rap “Joyful Noise" when she took the stand in a weeklong trial, the gospel rapper's lawyers argued for a far higher penalty of around $20 million. Katy Perry reportedly made $31m from the single, album sales and concert DVD that featured the song.

 “These defendants made millions and millions of dollars from their infringement of the plaintiffs’ song,” attorney Michael Kahn told the court.

Katy Perry was however ordered by the federal jury in California to pay $500,000 in damages, her label Capitol Records was ordered to pay $1.2 million while her producers will also pay towards the $2.78m sum.

2019 Broker Prize Award Nigerian Writer Longlisted

Nigerian writer, Chigozie Obioma’s second novel “An Orchestra of Minorities,” was announced on Wednesday as one of the books in the running for the Booker Prize, Britain’s most prestigious literary award.

Obioma, whose novel “The Fishermen” was a Finalist on the Booker Prize in 2015, faces strong competition for the award. Other nominated books include Salman Rushdie’s forthcoming “Quichotte,” about a traveling salesman who drives across the United States, and “10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World” by Elif Shafak, about a prostitute in Istanbul.

Of Igbo descent, Obioma was born into a family of 12 children — seven brothers and four sisters – in Akure, in the southwestern part of Nigeria, where he grew up speaking Yoruba, Igbo, and English. As a child, he was fascinated by Greek myths and the British masters, including Shakespeare, John Milton, and John Bunyan. Among African writers, he developed a strong affinity for Wole Soyinka’s The Trials of Brother Jero; Cyprian Ekwensi’s An African Night’s Entertainment; Camara Laye’s The African Child; and D. O. Fagunwa’s Ògbójú ?d? nínú Igbó Irúnmal??, which he read in its original Yoruba version. Obioma cites his seminal influences as The Palm-Wine Drinkard by Amos Tutuola, for its breadth of imagination; Tess of the d’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, for its enduring grace and heart; The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, both for the power of their prose; and Arrow of God by Chinua Achebe, for its firmness in Igbo culture and philosophy.

Cross-dresser and Lagos socialite, Bobrisky has reacted to reports of getting ‘arrested’ today, over a N665k debt he owed a boutique.
