Following the blessings of the Government of Cross River State, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the management of Nigeria’s premier business and leisure resort, Tinapa, has confirmed it's readiness to host the 9 states of the region for the maiden edition of Niger Delta Tourism Expo scheduled to hold in their premises this summer.
The information was made available by the General Manager of the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel, Justina Ovat, rising from a meeting with members of the organizing committee on Thursday, 17 May 2018 comprising of Hope Obeten, Ubong Ekpe and Great Oban.
In her words, ‘Tinapa Lakeside Hotel is very ready to host tourism and hospitality practicioners and stakeholders from 9 states of the Niger Delta and beyond’ said Justina in her office, ‘ we have continued to maintain a tradition of excellent hospitality and service, as we speak, we have the Nigerian Flying Eagles camping here ahead of their match in Calabar this weekend’.
Mrs Ovat announced that participants and exhibitors will enjoy a ridiculous 50% discount on their rooms during the expo. She took the team members on a tour of the facility, the proposed venue, exhibition spaces, halls and board rooms for breakout sessions.
Speakers, Panelists and participants from the South and professionals in the tourism industry will converge in Calabar, to chart a course for the improvement of the economy of Niger Delta states beyond the oil deposits it is known for. Billed to hold between 11 – 13 July 2018 at the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel, Calabar, Cross River State, the summit has as its theme: ‘Niger Delta Beyond Oil: Tourism, A Tool for Sustainable Development.’
Topics and panels will dwell on issues ranging from hospitality, the role of the media, the government, security agencies, the locals, financial and traditional institutions. Creating a forum for series of intellectual discussions by tourism stakeholders, operators, investors and government representatives of the nine (9) states of the region on tourism development.
