NiMet predicts cloudy skies, thunderstorms across Nigeria on Saturday, May 5

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country. It also predicted slim chances of thunderstorms over places such as Jos, Kaduna, Abuja, Jalingo, Ibi, Bauchi and Nassarawa on Saturday morning. 

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Friday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 31 to 35 and 24 to 17 degrees celsius respectively. 

According to the prediction, thunderstorms are expected over Kaduna, Abuja, Niger and Ilorin axis during the afternoon and evening hours. 

The agency’s weather forecast also indicated that the southern states would experience cloudy morning with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Calabar and Eket. 

It also predicted thunderstorms over the inland cities and southeast coast in the afternoon and evening period with day and night temperatures in the range of 29 to 33 degrees celsius respectively. 

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience cloudy morning and chances of thunderstorms over Kano, Yola, Bauchi and Dutse with day and night temperatures of 37 to 43 and 24 to 28 degrees celsius. 

“Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are expected over places like Kastina, Kano and Gusau while other place remains cloudy throughout the day. “The moisture influx into the country is expected to continue thereby increasing the level of cloudiness and it is expected to give rise to rainfall activities across most parts of the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicts.
