Any good done to man is never unrewarded. I'm currently attending the wedding of my good friend, Kufre Okon who's the current CPS to Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke. I'm taking back a lesson, that should ring a bell to Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and ALL elected leaders.
In 2014, the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Speaker was going through the biggest challenge of his life. His political existence was shaken to its foundation.
He had with him then Kufre Okon as a supporter and a friend. Kufre got admission for a postgraduate degree in London but something happened.
Kufre according to the Speaker's sober confession today came and met him and told him that he cannot go through this political trials alone. He told the Speaker that he was going to forfeit his admission in UK, and weather the storm with him, sink with him if he fails and swim the tides with him. This same 2014 was Okowa's biggest political trial of his life.
That singular act of standing by him, against all odds stamped a permanent place of love and security in the Speaker's heart.
He confessed that he has been looking for opportunities to publicly show Kufre love and this wedding was just the best time. He set a record in Nigeria as the first sitting speaker to be a best man to his friend and boy.
"Nothing is too big or small for me to do for Kufre", he said publicly. Loyalty and standing in the face of trial, danger and political temptation has been rewarded, apart from being made a CPS, other perks follow. He's sponsoring the couple for their honeymoon in Dubai.
This is a life lesson.
Many things to relate to Delta State, but will keep sealed lips for now.
Congratulations dear friend for having a worthy boss who remembers
Congratulations to all worthy ally for stepping out of bachelorhood
Congratulations on your marriage.
I celebrate you.
