A 23-year-old lady has just been hospitalized after she was crushed by an SUV in Ajah area of Lagos.
It was reported that the young lady is a graduate of Ebonyi State University.
Lady who was identified as Adeyinka Adelekan is reportedly preparing to go for her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program when the unfortunate incident took place at Skiddo bus stop in Ajah.
Eyewitnesses disclosed to Punch that Adelekan suffered several fractures in her legs and brain injuries after being knocked down by the SUV. She was immediately rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba.
It was further reported that 23-year-old Adelekan has been in coma since December 19, 2017 and is yet to come out of it. The young lady was knocked down by 26-year-old Saviour Henry who was driving his SUV when he knocked down Adelekan who was going to buy drinks for herself and her elder sister around 4pm on that day, after he lost control of the vehicle while trying to prevent a Toyota Highlander, driven by 19-year-old Oluwatobiloba Olorunosebi from hitting his SUV from behind.
23-year-old Adelekan was reportedly standing on the median, waiting to cross to the other side of the road when Henry allegedly veered towards the median and knocked her down. Both drivers were immediately arrested by the police from Langbasa division for not having driver’s license and reckless driving. They were not only arrested but have also been charged to Igbosere Magistrate court. Their charges reads: “That you, Oluwatobiloba Olorunosebi and Saviour Henry, on December 19, 2017, at 4.30pm at Skido bus stop, along Pump & S, Eti Osa, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, being the drivers of a Toyota Highlander with the number plate, AKD 922 EA and a Toyota RAV 4, with the number plate, KJA 582 BW, did drive the said vehicles dangerously on the highway and cause serious injuries to one Miss Adeyinka Adelekan, while the pedestrian was walking, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2012. That you, Oluwatobiloba Olorunosebi and Saviour Henry, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did drive the said vehicles without valid driving licenses, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 7 (1) of the Road Traffic Act Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2012.”
