*AS SACKED COMMISSIONER NOMINATES GODWIN SANDY INTO STATE EXCO
Baring any moment, there may be political unrest that will eventually lead to mass DEFECTION from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to other political parties in Ukanafun as a result of imposition of one Godwin SANDY, a native of Ukanafun as a commissioner nominee.
Sandy is also an aide on Tourism to the state governor.
An impeccable source who confided with our reporter claimed that in a bid to appease and indirectly bring back to the political system, the governor has mandated the recently sacked commissioner (Udo Ekpenyong) to nominate a replacement which will subsequently fill the vacuum his exit has created in the state exco.
Ekpenyong is said to have been sent home abruptly following his careless utterances which undermineded the earlier statement credited to Senate Minority leader, Godswill Akpabio with regards to gross marginalization of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District by Udom led administration.
Akpabio had during stakeholders meeting of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District accused his successor's led government of ridiculing and neglecting projects within Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District thereby wondering how much was accrued in the 2018 budget for the betterment of the senatorial district.
Meanwhile, the nomination of Godwin SANDY by the sacked commissioner has come with mixed feelings as political STAKEHOLDERS in the area have poised to jump ship rather than allowing what they described as a SELF CENTRED BRAT to be their commissioner.
Arising from a meeting held at a certain Housing estate along Aka Etinan road, an ex-commissioner said to be nursing ambition for Oruk Anam/Ukanafun Federal House of Representative election wondered why the governor should be relying on UDO Ekpenyong by bestowing such enormous powers on him noting that, Udom Emmanuel is gradually jeopardizing his second term ambition in Ukanafun.
He noted that, the political antecedence of Ekpenyong has been so shambled to a point that he doesn't have a handful of loyal supporters adding that, whenever given an opportunity, he doesn't look beyond his family members.
"What the governor needs is not who when given a little opportunity will nominate his family members for appointment. During Transition Committee he made his nephew Transition Chairman, his son an aide to the governor all these with Ukanafun slot.
"Today he has gone to pick another stooge as commissioner nominee. This will not augur well for the governor. It's high time the governor looked inward and proffer solution to the political problems that may be lingering in the near future." He said.
Also speaking, a former Transition Chairman of the area, wondered why the governor is bent on allowing UDO Ekpenyong to score cheap political point noting that, his eviction on a whole shows his unpopularity.
He pleaded with the governor never to allow the unrest in Ukanafun to take a political turn insisting that the choice of SANDY was dead on arrival.
The ex council boss called on the governor to look beyond political abracadabra by choosing a neutral member of the society who will turn things around citing the appointment of Leo Leo Umana into Board of Internal Revenue as a case study.
"Prior to Leo's appointment, Ikot Ekpene was a beehive of cultism activities but his appointment quenched all the fire not because he is a cultist but as a result of the clout he has in all facets of life.
"Ukanafun at the moment needs a neutral man with capacity to proffer solutions to the area's problem, unites one another and possibly leads everyone to a destination. Any thing short of that will spell doom.
"I am not saying that Udo Ekpenyong's nominee is not good. But we are talking about capacity and wherewithal. Udo as a person doesn't have the clout. For instance, do you think Victor Antai would have been removed without air of uncertainty from the public? That is why I call clout". He said
In another development, our reporter gathered that the duo of Udom Emmanuel and Godswill Akpabio have been in serious battle for supremacy as their aides have been sponsored to spit on each other.
A Government House Source disclosed that a commissioner for WORKS, Mr. EPHRAIM INYANG had mandated a certain media aide to the governor to educate the Senate Minority Leader on projects undertaken in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District which the aide did via a headline "ALL is well in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District" .
Reacting to the article, Senator Godswill Akpabio through his media aide, Mr. Anietie Ekong noted that Finbarr was indirectly telling Akpabio SHUT UP via the writeup.
However, several reactions have trailed the REJOINDER written by Anietie Ekong as the editor of Nigerian Pulse Newspaper, Mr. Kufre Etuk had taken to his timeline saying "Is Senator Godswill Akpabio God? Abeg some people needs to go and sleep." While Clement Warrie said "Akpabio is not everyone's god dear writer. Some people worship a different god from yours."
