The delegates want the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders declared a terrorist group

The conference had representatives from different parts of Nigeria including some parts of the north.

Some former governors and other Nigerians converged in Enugu on Thursday, January 11, over the menace constituted by suspected herdsmen across the country with a decision that the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders be declared terrorists.

Premium Times reports that the conference of south-east, south-west, south-south and north-central political leaders was attended by former governors Cornelius Adebayo, Ikedi Ohakim, Jonah Jang and Olusegun Mimiko; former Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae, son of former President Nnamdi Azikiwe, Uwakwe Azikiwe; Banji Akintoye, a professor, and former minister, Femi Fani- Kayode.

The report mentioned others at the conference to include Anya Anya, Pat Utomi, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe of Onitsha; Ifeanyi Uba, Yinka Odumakin, Ngozi Odumuko, Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, wife of former military leader, Donald Fajuyi whose father, Adekunle Fajuyi was killed with Aguiyi-Ironsi in the 1966 counter coup, Femi Ajayi, former Akwa Ibom military governor Idongesit Nkanga and Joe Irukwu.

A minute silence was observed for the victims of Benue killings.

Speaking at the event, Nnia Nwodo, the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, described the herdsmen as a threat to the unity of the country.

According to the report, the delegates to the conference said a minority part of Nigeria like the North-West and North-East, cannot hold the other regions of the country to ransom by refusing to agree on restructuring.

The said without restructuring, Nigeria could be heading for disintegration.

At the event which was organised by Nzukor Umunna, an affiliate of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ayo Adebanjo, who represented Afenifere, said: “It’s only restructuring that can guarantee your rights in Nigeria.

Cheating, injustice and even corruption can only be wiped out through restructuring.
“President Buhari will not do that, instead he has ensured that all military and paramilitary institutions are under his control and he has refused to to name herdsmen as terrorists yet he pounced on IPOB that seeks for justice.”
The conference also called on regions which attended to stop the mutual suspicion between themselves just as they also agreed to collaborate closely and to create mutually beneficial opportunities.
