EFCC begins investigation of Fayose, wife by Ukpono Etuk

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun the investigation of Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, his wife Feyisetan Fayose, and his top aides including Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the governor; Toyin Ojo, the state’s commissioner for finance; Oluyemisi Owolabi, the state’s accountant general.
According to a report by The Cable, sources in the know of the investigation reveal that the anti-graft agency is attempting to nail the governor, his wife, and members of his cabinets on allegations of money laundering and abuse of office. Some of the letters seen by TheCable, dated July 20, 2018, and addressed to the managing director and the chief compliance officer of Access Bank Plc reveal that EFCC is also investigating the governor for abuse of office.
The EFCC listed four Access Bank accounts being run by “Ayodele Peter Fayose”, and about five accounts in the same bank, being run by “Feyisetan Helen O. Fayose”, believed to be the wife of the governor. Similar letters were also sent to other major banks in the country, where the governor and his loyalists run personal transactions.
Some of the letters referenced “CR:3000/EFCC/ABJ/EG-TA/VOL.57/254” and “CR:3000/EFCC/ABJ/EG-TA/VOL.57/258” requested that the banks’ compliance officers should report at the EFCC economic governance section on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 — 10 days after the just concluded Ekiti elections.
Insiders also revealed that the banks were asked to present the details of accounts of the governor and his loyalists, including their; statements of accounts, bank verification, and any other relevant information that may help the investigation.

Recall that shortly after Kayode Fayemi of APC was declared winner of the Ekiti state governorship election, the EFCC official Twitter handle tweeted that the anti-graft agency was coming after Fayose so he can explain his role in the alleged N1.3 billion fraud, as filed by the EFCC in 2005.

“The parri is over, the cloak of immunity torn apart, and the staff broken. #Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon,” the tweet read
The EFCC however deleted the tweet and said it does not represent the views of the agency.

WHEN WORDS CAN'T EXPLAIN THE PAINS by Counselor Adofoli

Tears are an expression of how the heart feels when your lips can’t describe how much you have been really hurt, while to others suicide is the only way to save the heart from the pains. The sad part is your loved ones feel there is something wrong but can't understand what you are going through, while it is hard for you to explain what you are going through.

Others use silence as the best tool to express their pain while some resort to isolation. You expect people to know what you are going through without talking yet the more you try, the more they ask you questions you don't have answers for.

Funny but the truth is, the very person who puts you through these pains is the one you don't expect this from, the one you think should know better and protect your heart ends up to be the one with the knife tearing your heart apart, your loved.

These recent occurrences of suicide pops lots of questions to me as a counselor. What kind of partners or spouses do people look out for? The answer is a good spouse but how sure are you to meet a good person?

Since you get to know people better at the latter part of a relationship, these people you thought were good turn out to be bad people and this only comes to light at the end of the road of the beautiful dream of the relationship. When expectations are not met, broken heart becomes the result. Smiles turn into tears, love turns into hatred, sweetness turns into bitterness.

So the question is, who should we look out for as a spouse or partner? Don't search for the good in people for the good is often dressed in fake clothes. You should rather look for real, for real is naked and proud no matter the scars. It has nothing to hide. It doesn't pretend, it doesn't impress.

Sometimes it is hard to know the difference between what is good and what is real, because anyone can give you compliments and attention which are some of the basic things we seek in relationship, but the one who is real will give you more than that; they will give you respect, honesty, trust and loyalty.

If you are not married but in a bad relationship, and dealing with someone who is not real, it is time for you to advise yourself. Just because you couldn't find someone who is real doesn't mean you should be with someone who treats you bad. Leave the one causing you the pain, save your beautiful heart for someone who is real.

In conclusion "So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush"- Philippians 1:9-10 (MSG).

Runtown to appear at Abuja High Court to give reasons he shouldn’t be sent to prison for disobeying Court Injunction by Ukpono Etuk

An Abuja High Court has fixed 8th August, 2018 for Runtown to appear and give reasons why he should not be sent to prison for disobeying Court Injunction made on 10th May, 2018.

According to a statement by Eric Many, he said:
“recall that we served a Contempt Warning from Court on Runtown on 4th July, 2018 after he defied Court Order and released a song. Rather than heed the Contempt Warning and retrace his steps, he issued a Press Release in which he argued that the Injunction had expired.
“The Injunction was to stop things until the hearing of our Motion seeking to freeze activities until a decision on his status (whether he had discharged his obligations to us or not) is taken. It barred him from performing or releasing songs for the time being”.
The statement went on to add that, “the legal advice we received was that Runtown was wrong in his interpretation of the Rules of Court he relied on since he was already served with our Motion and was represented in Court on 31st May, 2018 when the Court adjourned to 27th September, 2018 to hear the Motion and the one filed by Runtown himself!
“To turn around after that day to proceed to do what the Order barred him from doing, and what the Motion served on him (adjourned in his presence) seeks to stop, is unjustifiable under the 7-Days Rule he relied upon. That could probably apply to a person against whom an interim injunction was obtained without more.
“Based on this, we have done two things: One, we have obtained a ‘FORM 49’ against him to explain why he should not be sent to prison, especially when he continued to publicize fixtures for shows in Canada, Namibia, Europe etc and threaten to release more songs, both actions in defiance of the Court Order. The application (now fixed for 8th August) has been served on him in the Punch as ordered by the Court.

STAY OFF NEGATIVES by Counselor Adofoli

As far as we have God and there is Satan, there will always be negatives no matter how much we try to be positive.

Sometimes one can't imagine how on earth he got a spot of stain in their white attire no matter how careful they were?

Even if this happens on your first day with someone you have always dreamt of being with, or during a golden opportunity to meet someone you admire so much, or at an event or ceremony you were hosting or speaking at or on your wedding day, you have to live beyond the circumstances. It doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist but you just don't want to allow that to steal your, joy, happiness and smiles.

Sometimes the negative comments, words or talk from some people get you mad, upset and angry. You may feel like teaching them a lesson or descending to their level but the sincere question you need to ask yourself is, "is this worth it?, Do I belong to the same negative class with them? Is that the real me?"

The truth of the matter is, the reason people behave that way is because they are sick. It is only sick people who go around vomiting on others.

Since you are not sick, why will you be forced to vomit on someone? Even if they mistakenly or unintentionally vomit on you, you don't want to get sick and also vomit on them; you rather have to forgive and move on.

The bible says in 1 Peter 3:9 (NLT) “Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing”.

One thing about vomit is, even the one who does it doesn't like it. Negative people don't like their own words and comments they spit on others.

No one likes to step in vomit, so there is no need encouraging negative comments and insults. There is no need replying them either for the truth is, not every sick person knows he or she is sick.

So go ahead, delete the negative comments and block them but don't forget to remember them in prayer.

Always bear in mind, if you allow the negatives, you can be infected and once you do, you are also sick. It's like replying a mad person who insults you; people watching might think you are even worse.

Detach emotions from negative comments thrown at you; put them behind you; it doesn't define you in anyway. When you learn to do this, no one has the power to ruin your day with their words.

In conclusion "Don’t hang out with angry people; don’t keep company with hotheads. Bad temper is contagious—don’t get infected" - Proverbs 22:24-25 (MSG).

In a bid to realize sustainable development goals in the State and beyond, Uyo local government area has taken the initiative of partnering indigenes of Calabar dwelling in the State capital under the umbrella of Calabar Community in Uyo.
The partnership was struck when Executive members of the organization paid a courtesy call on the council chairman, Elder Imoh Okon in his office, Wednesday.
Elder Okon extol what he noted to be intrinsic virtues of an Efik person which include obedience to constituted authority, peaceful disposition and co-existence, and promised to leverage on them for the crystallization of sustainable development goals.

WOMEN DON'T LIKE NAGGING Written by Counselor Adofoli

It's a big lie when you hear men say they are married to a nagging woman. No woman is a nagging woman. In fact you wouldn't have agreed to date or marry her if she was a nagging woman. The reason why she is nagging now is because you don't listen to her. Most men pay attention to the warning beeping of their computer, car, phone than to the complains of their wives or spouses.

Men need to know that women are different from them; they are special and need to be treated as such. This is why God says husbands should love their wives. "Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting" - Ephesians 5:25 (MSG).

Loving your woman means giving her your ears, time and attention. It's not about imposing on them what you think is right for them, rather ask what they want. Loving your wife requires listening to understand her, knowing her needs and what is wrong with her. Women want comfort and security; they want to be pampered and provided for but it takes a man who listens to her to keep her in love. If you don't listen to the woman in your life when they talk, you make them think you will listen to them when they walk away or get involved with someone else.

Women don't just cheat or leave you for someone else; they do that when there is something wrong with the relationship, when they are not listened to. Then they start nagging and once they get tired of that too, leaving becomes the next available option.

Women hate nagging, saying one thing over and over and over again. It makes them sick, distant and unhappy. Many men have turned the loving women in their lives into mosquitoes because they refuse to be sensitive to their needs.

What keeps the smile on her face is not your money, social status, job title or position but rather how you treat her; like your fellow human being who needs to be listened to. Just as you can't stand the beep of low battery from your phone, please don't stand the nagging from your woman. Attend to her needs; take credit for her smiles and not her complaints.

Let her feel appreciated so she can give out her best in everything she does in the relationship. Stick to the things you did in the beginning of the relationship, things that made her fall for you.

One of the reasons why a mother's love is the greatest, why mothers are so special to their children, is because they make time for things that don't make sense to them as mothers, but makes sense to the child. She reduces her status to that of the kid, just to meet the child's demands and the child in turn becomes attached to her.

Not everything that makes sense to your woman will do to you. She is different that is why you need to listen to her needs and serve her. Nagging is simply how the woman's emotions speak when a man's ears refuse to listen. You damage your woman emotionally when you refuse to listen to her; it's just like continuing to use a device after it has given you warning signs, you end up damaging it.

In conclusion "Listen carefully to what you hear! The way you treat others will be the way you will be treated—and even worse" - Mark 4:24 (CEV).

Miss Kenyan Prison, Ruth Kamande beauty queen sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing boyfriend 25 times by Ukpono Etuk

Former Lang’ata Women Prison beauty queen, Ruth Kamande has been sentenced to death today, for killing her boyfriend, Farid Mohammed.

The 24-year-old was found guilty of stabbing her boyfriend 22 times in Buruburu, Nairobi in September 2015 after she discovered love letters from his ex-lovers.
High Court judge, Jessie Lesiit committed the 2016 Miss Lang’ata Prison beauty queen to death despite the penalty having been lifted by a superior court saying her court was free to exercise discretion further stating that the death penalty was still enshrined in statutes.
She also said Kamande showed no remorse for her actions in the course of the trial.
Kamande’s legal team had claimed that she had converted to Islam and deserved a chance to turn her life around. They told the court that she should be given a lenient jail sentence, considering she has “established a close relationship with God”
They further pleaded for leniency on the basis that she was the only child of a single mother.
The judge, however, insisted that Kamande’s case needed to serve as an example to young people who may be involved in unhealthy relationships.

“I want the youth to know that it is not cool to kill your boyfriends or girlfriends. Instead, it is cool to walk away and forget, ” Judge Lessit said.
Speaking to reporters following the sentencing, the victim’s aunt, Ema Wanjiku said the family was glad justice had finally been served.
Kenya does not implement the death sentence and Kamande will now serve a life sentence.

YOU CAN CHECK YOUR WASSCE RESULTS, DISREGARD RUMOUR PEDDLERS- A’IBOM GOV’S AIDE By Ukpono Etuk

All candidates who sat for the just concluded 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in the state have been urged  to check their results at the respective available channels and pay deaf ears to idle gossips by sponsored media hirelings who are all out to mislead the public.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet who confirmed this to our reporter in her office dismissed the widespread rumours making the rounds in some quarters that result of candidate of Akwa Ibom State who wrote the recent WASSCE would not be released due to the State’s outstanding debt to West African Examinations Council.

Mrs Etiebet who corroborated an earlier statement by the Commissioner for Education,  Prof. Victor Inoka and that of Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, called on the general public to ignore such rumours as all Governor Emmanuel, being a responsive and responsible leader had fulfilled his part of obligation to the examinations council.
Maintaining that Mr Emmanuel considers all funds expended on education as major investments, she charged all detractors to join hands with the Governor in building a better Akwa Ibom State.

The SSA on Education monitoring also disclosed that civil servants in Akwa Ibom state have been paid June 2018 salaries, even when federal government Allocation -FAAC has not been released to States by the federal government.

She applauded the commitment of Governor Emmanuel in the payment of staff’s remuneration, pensions and gratuities.
Mrs Etiebet used the opportunity to intimate the general public that Governor Emmanuel’s Administration since 2015, has spent over 3billion naira in the payment of termly examination’s fees, placement examination(Common Entrance) fees, Basic Education Certicate fees, WASCE fees, NABTEB fees, etc., for all government owned primary and secondary Schools across the State.
She also commended the State government for the massive construction/rehabilitation of School blocks and other infrastructural developments recorded in other sectors.

Meet the first ever Miss Nigeria, Grace Oyelude, who still rocks at 86 by Ukpono Etuk

Grandmother, Grace Atinuke, born November 16, 1931, is known to be the first ever Miss Nigeria, having won the pageant — also the maiden edition — in 1957.
Though she hails from Kogi State, Grandma Oyelude was born in Kano to James Adeleye Olude and Marthan Dantu, who both hail from Isanlu, present day Kogi State.
The story of how she became the first Miss Nigeria is as riveting as her enigmatic personality, even in her advanced old age.

Miss Nigeria started in 1957 as a photo contest, whereby contestants posted photographs of themselves to The Daily Times headquarters in Lagos. Finalists were shortlisted, and successful finalists were invited to compete in the live final at the Lagos Island Club.
Then, the Miss Nigeria contest did not include a swimsuit competition.
Then, Oyelude was working at UAC when she represented the then Northern region. After winning the contest, she travelled to England where she studied Nursing. Within months of gaining admission to the School of Nursing in Ashford, she was crowned Miss Nigeria.
“The following day, they got me on a plane to Lagos and that was it.”
Oyelude currently holds the chieftaincy titles Iyaolu of Isaluland and Iyalode of Okunland. She has many grandchildren.
More recently, precisely on July 16, 2018, her ebullient nephew and a Professor of English Language at Carleton University in the United States, Pius Adesanmi, posted a photograph of the gracefully ageing Grandma Oyelude.

“I thought it was a small dead dog”- lady celebrates once malnourished child she rescued in Calabar as she turns 3 by Ukpono Etuk

Recall that Dr. Edu, the Director General of CRSPCDA rescued the Christiana Etim and her then 16-year-old mother, Esther Etim Effiom during a Maternal and Newborn Child Health Week at Ikot Ekpo Axis of Calabar on.

Taking to her official Facebook page today, Dr. Edu recalled how she initially mistook the child for a dead small dog. Read below:
Christy is 3 years old.
Like yesterday I clearly remember when I thought it was a dead small dog lying on a dirty veranda. I told the state nutrition officer who was with me on a community sweep seeking for malnourished children, that we will not go into that compound because I don’t want any rabies infected dog to bite me since one was dead already another could be by the side.
God had you in mind Christy it was your day for rescue! “My SNO said no madam, that is a dying child not a dead dog” we were 2 compounds away! The minute I heard dying child, my blood ran cold and I walked over to her. At first I wondered how a woman will let her child die in her very face, until I met the mother who was only a teeneger and was equally strugling to stay alive, I knew immediately that this was the real reason God brought me there, to save Christy and her teenage mother Esther – Dr Betta Edu
This is the story of A young girl, Christy who overpowered severe malnutrition courtesy of the divine intervention of Dr Betta Edu who God used in rescuing her 3 years back.
The girl with bones sticking out of her ribs generated sympathy around the State with a few persons notably Mr Richard Akinaka, volunteering to support care for their needs and education. The two have been through several hospital admissions in the build back process but we are happy for progress made so far.
Now, that girl is so beautiful, strong and healthy. The malnourished girl, who survived severe pains as a child, is gradually gaining her footing in society, She is now grown and has turned into a beautiful young child. But asides the beauty, she’s also got brains and very smart. She hardly smiles…May be life didn’t smile at her at birth.
Presently, she is in nursery school. According to the teenage mother who is also enrolled in a secondary school, she dreams of little Christy and her becoming a medical doctor so the can help other kids who are currently going through what she went through all those years.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTY!!!
