Pat Utomi stated that the power brokers who he referred to as the ‘class of capture’, have inflicted an anti-intellectual culture on Nigeria
He grouped these individuals into three distinct categories, explaining how each group operates and holds the country back.
Utomi bashed the National Assembly as being one of the nation’s greatest problems as he called on Nigeria to emulate Singapore, which is led by the brightest minds Professor Pat Utomi, a prominent political economist, has stated that for the past 51 years, Nigeria’s fortunes have been determined by less than 60 people, Punch reports.
He stated: “Today’s politicians are mentally ill-equipped. The late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was surrounded by intellectuals and professors.
These days, the opposite is the case. Pimps accompany our politicians. "This ‘class of capture’ has inflicted an anti-intellectual culture on the country.”
Utomi warned the nation’s leaders that if they do not diversify, the country would soon run aground, as oil would soon become obsolete.
