Lawmakers at the National Assembly have passed a bill to legalize the organization into a para-military agency, but the President has not yet signed it into law.
The group claims that it is collaborating with other security agencies to provide security in the state and across the nation, but the Police denies collaborating with the organization.
The leader of the agency, Dickson Akoh, is being prosecuted by the police and other security agencies Ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Nigerian Peace Corps have deployed its personnel to mosques and Muslim praying grounds and flash points in Nasarawa state, NAN reports.
This comes despite the ongoing problems with the police and other security agencies which have accused the Corps of being an illegal paramilitary agency.
