Both parents were devout Christian Methodist Episcopal Church who had nurtured their Children in the way of the Lord.
The young Samuel Maxon Itina started his primary school
education at The Apostolic Central School, Iwo Eto, Ikot Akpan Ntembon between
1958 and 1963 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.
Thereafter, he proceeded to Salvation Army Secondary School, Akai Ubium in 1966 and obtained the West African School Certificate (Division One) in 1971, scoring Alpha in each of his eight subjects.

Dr. Samuel Itina was focused, confident and ambitious. He
studies Medicine in University of Ibadan in 1973.
Thereafter, he had his postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK where he obtained MRCOG in 1986.
Dr. Samuel Itina returned to the UK (1991-1992) for sub-specialization in Gynaecological Oncology Surgery.
