Obono-Obla said it was one of the visiting members of the civil society groups that actually made the comment.
He was alleged to have queried why Liyel Imoke's name was missing from the list of past officials under investigation Okoi Obono-Obla, the chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), has denied accusing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of being compromised.
The head of media and communication of the organisation, Sebastine Eko, said Obono-Obla was quoted out of contest.
The statement said: “The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property is established to assist government in the recovery of public property illegally acquired from proceeds of corruption amongst others.
“This it can only achieve by collaboration with other sister anti-corruption agencies, the media, CSOs and the general public.
