To acknowledge the weigh loss, staff at Carrington have started calling the Portuguese 'the skinny one.
An insider is quoted as saying: “Jose puts so much effort into his sessions, both mentally and physically. It’s hardly surprising. “It’s perhaps a little unfair to say he was gaining a pot-belly, as he is now a man in his fifties.
“The problem is living in a hotel hasn’t exactly been conducive to staying in tip-top shape. “He went with the squad to the United States in pre-season and a few of the staff have privately commented he is looking a lot slimmer these days.
“He’s been spotted around the gym a bit more. He has shed some weight and is looking in tip-top shape.” When he first arrived in English football back in 2004, he called himself the special one while on his return to Chelsea in 2013 he called himself the happy one.
