Analysts believe Disney is in for a bumper year as it is set to release The Lion King, Toy Story 4 and several other big movies.
Disney's Endgame beat the previous global record of $640m (£495m) set by last year's Avengers: Infinity War.
The 22nd Marvel Studios superhero offering, starring Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, banked a record $350m (£270m) in the US alone.
It also enjoyed unprecedented success in China where it made a record-breaking $330m after it opened on Wednesday.
Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said: "Though Endgame is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend's monumental success is a testament to the world they've envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world."
Analysts believe Disney is on course for a bumper year as it is set to release The Lion King, Toy Story 4 and several other potential blockbusters in the coming months.
