Shipping faces demands to cut CO2

A battle is under way to force the global shipping industry to play its part in tackling climate change.
A meeting of the International Maritime Organisation in London next week will face demands for shipping to radically reduce its CO2 emissions.
If shipping doesn't clean up, it could contribute almost a fifth of the global total of CO2 by 2050.
A group of nations led by Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, Panama and Argentina is resisting CO2 targets for shipping.
Their submission to the meeting says capping ships' overall emissions would restrict world trade. It might also force goods on to less efficient forms of transport.

This argument is dismissed by other countries which believe shipping could actually benefit from a shift towards cleaner technology.
The UK's Shipping Minister Nusrat Ghani told BBC News: "As other sectors take action on climate change, international shipping could be left behind.
"We are urging other members of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to help set an ambitious strategy to cut emissions from ships."

LESSONS FROM EASTER FOR YOUR MARRIAGE

It is sad to know that many marriages have become a garden of pains, spouses have hurt each other, not willing to forgive, living like roommates, filled with anger, regrets and bitterness. Such marriages are running out of love, the spouses are not sensitive and are heartless towards one another. If you find yourself in such a marriage, all hope is not lost, let the lesson from Easter restore your union.

A normal spouse will not treat you bad; they only do so because there is something wrong with them.  This is why you have to learn to forgive them for the truth is, most of them don't even know what is wrong with they themselves.

On the cross, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” - Luke 23:34a (NIV). Not many of us may understand Jesus. Why should He forgive people who deliberately hurt Him and show no remorse.

The first human being God created was a perfect being, innocent, knew nothing like evil and had no sin or corruption. The woes of a man began when Satan through the serpent corrupted man.

Human beings are no more innocent, man knows what is good and evil, human beings chose bad over good and in summary, human beings became sick.  There is nothing more you can do for a sick person than to forgive him. That is the help they need.

So as we remember the death of Jesus Christ, one of the core lessons we should take from Him and apply in our relationships is to forgive our friends, spouse and loved ones, for they don't know what they are doing.  They don't know their words hurt, they don't know their actions kill.  This is because they are sick.

Therefore instead of hating them, say a prayer for them; instead of forsaking them, love them. If not for love, God wouldn’t send His only begotten Son to die for us. If not for love Jesus wouldn’t suffer for our sins.

To love doesn't mean your spouse won't hurt you; but we define our love when we lay down our pride, ego and say to them, I forgive you. We don't do that because we are fools but because we know better. By so doing the Lord blesses us and answers our hidden request.

You don’t need to start with your partner, start with yourself, make the first move, say I forgive you. Remember it is not love if you can’t forgive your spouse.

In conclusion "God blesses those people who make peace. They will be called His children!" - Matthew 5:9 (CEV).

Please share with your friends, someone out there needs this.

Gaza-Israel border: Clashes 'leave five Palestinians dead and hundreds injured'

Palestinians in Gaza have marched in their thousands to the Israel border at the start of a six-week-long protest.
The Palestinian health ministry says at least seven people have been killed and 350 wounded, many of them by Israeli gunfire.
The Israeli military reported "rioting" at six places and said it was "firing towards main instigators".
Palestinians have pitched five camps near the border for the protest, dubbed the Great March of Return.
They are demanding that refugees be allowed to return to homes that are now in Israel.

Facebook's Zuckerberg will not appear before MPs

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg's decision not to appear before MPs is "astonishing", said the committee chairman who invited him to attend.
Damian Collins, the head of a parliamentary inquiry into fake news, urged Mr Zuckerberg to "think again".
Facebook and data analytics firm Cambridge Analytica are at the centre of a row over harvesting personal data.
Mr Zuckerberg has apologised for a "breach of trust", but said he will not appear in front of the inquiry.
He will instead send one of his senior executives, Facebook's chief product officer Chris Cox, who will give evidence to MPs in the first week after the Easter parliamentary break.

Keith Raniere: Nxivm leader charged with sex trafficking

Keith Raniere, the leader of an elusive US self-help group, has been arrested by the FBI in Mexico and charged with sex trafficking.

Federal prosecutors allege Mr Raniere oversaw a "slave and master" system in his group called Nxivm, where female members were expected to have sex with him and were branded with his initials.
He is expected to appear in court on the charges in Texas on Tuesday.
Mr Raniere left the country last year after former members spoke to US media.
A number of women came forward for an investigation published in the New York Times newspaper in October, which led to the United States attorney's office in Brooklyn opening an investigation into the group.

Eagles of Death Metal shooting survivor: Parkland campaigners 'vile'

Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes, who survived the 2015 Paris attacks, has lashed out at survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school massacre.
In a series of posts on Instagram, the singer labelled students who led the March for Our Lives protest on Saturday as "vile abusers of the dead".
Hughes also accused one of the students of "treason" and mocked their gun control campaign.
It is not the first time he has created controversy since the Paris attacks.
In a series of four now-deleted posts on Sunday, Hughes said enacting gun control laws would "denigrate the memory and curse ourselves by exploiting the death of 16 of our fellow students for a few Facebook likes and some media attention".
He appeared confused about the death toll, as 17 people died in last month's attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student.

Never Again: Is gun control movement too white?

Is the new movement against gun violence that is sweeping America too white and too rich?
It's a question hotly debated on social media as hundreds of thousands rallied on Saturday in support of the #NeverAgain campaign that emerged after 17 people were killed in a gun attack at a high school in Parkland, Florida, last month.
Protesters are being accused of hypocrisy, as some ask why they didn't turn out for the Black Lives Matter movement, which was set up in 2013 to end police violence against black people and highlight the impact of gun violence in ethnic minority communities.
In 2016 more than 52% of murder victims (73% killed by guns) in America were black, even though black people make up 13% of the population.
Debate on Twitter focused on a photograph of white protesters holding up their palms, which read: "Don't shoot." The slogan and gesture became a rallying cry in 2014 after 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was reported to be raising his arms, was fatally shot by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
Accusations that the weekend marches had appropriated the slogan were shared more than 3,000 times.

"Where were y'all when black people were getting shot though? If gun control don't include police and your protesting doesn't include innocent black people, I do not want it!" tweeted @frankpuddles.

Kenya columnists quit Nation Media Group over 'meddling'

Eight leading newspaper columnists have resigned from Kenya's largest media group, citing a "loss in editorial independence".
In a joint statement, they suggested government interference in the Nation Media Group (NMG).
NMG said it regretted the columnists' position and it believed in "independence, fairness and balance".
The resignations come at a time when the government has been accused of cracking down on the media.
In January, several of Kenya's most popular TV stations, including NMG-owned NTV, were pulled off-air for their planned coverage of the mock presidential inauguration of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Nato expels Russian diplomats

Nato is expelling seven Russian diplomats in response to a nerve agent attack in the UK.
The international security organisation's chief said the move would send a message to Russia that there are "costs and consequences" for its behaviour.
Twenty-six countries have expelled Russian envoys in the past two days, in solidarity with the UK.
They all believe Russia was behind the poisoning of two people in Salisbury.
Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, were poisoned on 4 March in the southern English city, and investigators say a military-grade nerve agent was used.
Russian has denied involvement.
Speaking in Brussels, Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg said he would also deny pending accreditation for three Russian staff, and would reduce the size of Russia's mission from 30 to 20.
Nato made a similar move in 2015, in response to the Russian annexation of Crimea. Before that, there were 60 Russia personnel at its Belgium headquarters.

Women Are Not Hard To Love 1

Many
men have complained that women are hard to love and are something else;
they don't know what they want, not to talk of the man in their life
who is trying to figure out that and meet those needs of hers. Loving a
woman becomes complicated when you misunderstand her. Every woman is
different, if a man will learn to focus on one woman and learn about
her, loving her will be easy.

She becomes complicated
when she doesn't know who she is to you, when she doesn't know her place
in your heart. Every woman wants to be her man's woman but not one of
his women. She wants to be treated special because she sees herself as
special. And when she is treated like any other woman in the life of his
man, she becomes uncomfortable.

She wants to be
addressed as his one and only, not one of his many. Women have a problem
with men who can't do that. She doesn't want to be call his favourite
for she understands what you call your favourite could become your least
liked with time. What you term as favourite could change tomorrow.

She
doesn't want you to call her your forever, to her forever is just a
myth. What she wants you to call her is 'yours'. What is yours will
always be yours. That is what makes her happy. That is what makes her
feel happy.

She wants to be secure, she wants your
intention for her to be real. She doesn't want to be led on, for when
that happens, it is easy for you as a man to move on than her. To you
the man, she is out of your life. But to her, it is difficult getting
you out of her memories. Something she cannot do. She lives with such
memories. And that is what hurts her the most.

Women
want a man who is thoughtful, a man who can love her in a million ways. A
man who is not tired of thinking of her. A man who doesn't not run out
of ideas of expressing his love to her. To be with her is a must.

She
is not looking for a super man who will fix all her problems but a
friend who will be by her side through all her problems; Not a lover who
runs away and only comes around when the mood is special. Not a man who
shows up because she is looking good and he misses her, then leaves
when done. The truth is, you only miss the sun when it starts to snow.
She doesn't want to go before you know you love her.

A
friend who will hold her hands when things go wrong, a friend she can
run to when she is feeling lonely. A friend who never leaves, someone
who doesn't make you feel alone.

She wants a man who
will love and respect her as his working partner, not a subordinate he
can lord over but a partner he can serve. She wants a man who can't
stand her tears, a man who will die when she cries, not a man who will
cry when she dies. Such a man might not understand her feelings and
might hurt her.

In conclusion "Women must also be
serious. They must not gossip or be heavy drinkers, and they must be
faithful in everything they do" - 1 Timothy 3:11 (CEV).

Please share with your friends, someone out there needs this.

Nelson Mandela's golden hand casts sell for $10m in bitcoin

Gold castings of the hands of South Africa's first black President Nelson Mandela have been sold for $10m (£7m) in bitcoin.
Canadian crypto-currency exchange firm Arbitrade bought four casts from South African businessman Malcolm Duncan.
The firm said it planned to launch a global "Golden Hands of Nelson Mandela" tour to educate young people about the anti-apartheid icon's life.
This is the first time artefacts of Mr Mandela have been sold in bitcoin.
Mr Mandela was jailed for 27 years for fighting white minority rule in South Africa.
He was released in 1990, and served as president from 1994 to 1999.
Mr Mandela died in 2013 at the age of 95. He had turned into a global brand, with businessmen and artists cashing in on his name.
Mr Duncan, who now lives in Canada, bought the casts from mining group Harmony Gold in 2002 for about $31,000.
Half of the money paid to Harmony Gold was meant to go to charity, but it remains unclear as to whether that happened, Bloomberg news agency reports.
Harmony said it had "supplied Mr Duncan with the necessary paperwork verifying the provenance as requested by his attorneys," but declined to comment on what happened to the donation, Bloomberg reports.
