A policeman attached to the Ibusa Divisional Police station has been accused of shooting an 18 year old Sofia Ogogo and one Victor Emeagwai at a check point on November 19th after asking them for N1000 bribe.
According to reports, Sofia was in her boyfriend’s car, Jerry Akinlabi and they were heading out with his friend, Victor, when they were flagged down by a group of five police officers at a checkpoint.
When Jerry who was driving the car told the officers that he doesn’t have N200 to give them, the police officers then demanded to collect the N1000 they sighted in his car.

As he made an attempt to to drive out of the checkpoints, one of the police officers shot at his car and the bullet pierced through and hit Sophia.
The officer simply identified as Sergeant Abua who fired the shot, fled the scene and is on the run after the incident.
After the incident, Sergeant Abua rushed to the station, drop his Gun and ran away.
In their efforts to destroy evidence not knowing pictures of the car had  already been taken,  Police officers at Force Headquarters Asaba led by one CSP took the car key from Jerry Akinlabi and informed him it was order from Delta State Commissioner of Police and after CP Press Conference the car will be returned.

Later they returned the car, with no blood stain, they also patched the bullet holes on the vehicle and painted.
The other officers who carried out the attempted murder of Sophia are currently in detention Zone 5 Benin led by ASP Akhabue Easter while one of them Sergeant Abua is still on the run.
