Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has relieved the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Augustine Nwakwoagu, of his appointment with immediate effect.
In a statement Wednesday evening, signed by his Principal Secretary, Mr. Clement Nweke, Umahi said that Mr. Nwankwoegu was sacked over alleged ‘acts inconsistent with his official duties’.
Meanwhile, Umahi has ordered a full scale investigation over the alleged fraud rocking the payment of pension to retired workers in the state.
A press statement signed by his press Secretary Mr Emmanuel Uzor, expressed dismay over reported alleged extortion.
“The issues surrounding the non payment of pension and gratuities in the state had been hinged on criminal padding and inflation of pension and gratuities accruable to some retired civil servants in the state which led to the Committee set up by the State Executive Council to look into the matter and harmonize the payment”, it read.
