Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has penciled down Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as one of his major targets in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old winger joined the Catalans from Borussia Dortmund last summer in a deal worth about £136 million in a bid to replace Neymar – who joined Paris Saint Germain in the world’s current record fee.
But his reign at the Camp Nou so far has been characterized by series of injury – leaving him with just five appearances in all competitions since his arrival last August.
And he is about to face stiffer competition with the signing of Brazilian forward, Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool during the January transfer window.
With the continuous rumour linking the current Spanish League leaders in a swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, Dembele might be surplus to requirements at the end of the day.
This will give the Premier League outfit an advantage to land the youngster, considering the fact that he would be reuniting with his old teammates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Wenger is interested in bringing Dembele to the Emirates and turn him into the ‘new Thierry Henry’.
