2019: GOV EMMANUEL RECEIVES ATIKU, HARPS ON RESTRUCTURING
Governor Udom Emmanuel has reiterated his position that restructuring is key to sustainable growth and meaningful development in the country.
He stated this in Government House,Uyo when a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar visited the state to declare his interest for the number one seat in Nigeria to him and other top party officials in Akwa Ibom.
According to him, "we are still expecting that time that Nigeria will be run as a business venture not as a segmented six regional basis were money is made everywhere and then shared at Abuja. We don't expect that will still continue."
The Governor said the people were expecting a much better Nigeria from 2019 and appreciated Atiku Abubakar for showing concern about the situation in the country.
" I keep saying so, if you cannot run a kiosk, you cannot run a supermarket, you cannot run a sole-proprietorship, you cannot run a multi-national, so experience is what is needed in businesses and ventures of this nature," the Governor asserted.
He maintained that the leadership of the party was looking forward to making the race much more interesting explaining that although many aspirants will indicate interest, only the one ordained by God will prevail.
While making his intention known, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar explained that his aspiration was born out of sheer and dogged patriotism.
Alhaji Abubakar assured the party faithful that he was seeking the Presidency in 2019 to unite the country, bring about economic prosperity and to look at the current structure of the country if it has actually achieved the objectives of the nation's federalism.
The Preseidential hopeful emphasized on the issue of devolution of powers and resources to the various components of the country noting that he could not point at any project undertaken by the Federal Government in Akwa Ibom State. "I have known this state for a very long time, I cannot point out to a federal road in this state, a federal institution in this state or any major project in this state. "
According to Alhaji Abubakar, "All what has been achieved in this state in terms of development strides have been done by the government of this state."
He wondered why the states and local government councils were not being empowered with more resources for them to do better than they have done so far.
He asserted that such empowerment of the second and third tiers of government will make it possible for their people to hold their local leaders accountable either for progress or the lack of it.
The Presidential aspirant expressed strong believe in a restructured Nigeria and informed the people that he was a product of the first federalism enjoying free and qualitative education with payment of a weekly pocket money up to university level in an era when oil was yet to be exploited.
In his opinion, a restructured Nigeria will bring about the ingenuity of citizens and leaders in the country to diversify sources of revenues in order to be able to render the services needed by the people for their development and prosperity.
He recalled that his primary and secondary education were completely funded by the local government whose officials then were not more than grade two or three holders but showed high level of patriotism and commitment to the development and prosperity of the local authority and the people.
He called on Nigerians to always acknowledge the contributions made by past leaders and explained that but not for their efforts and sacrifices, some of them would not have been in uyo to discuss the future and development of the area.
He applauded former Governors, Obong Victor Attah, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the current occupant of the office, Mr Udom Emmanuel for laying a solid foundation for the development and prosperity of the state and the people.
He said the success has been achieved due to the consistency by the people in voting the ruling party in Akwa Ibom and commended the people for their steadfastness.
Highlight of the campaign visit was the presentation of a momento by the presidential aspirant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor.
A former Governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, that of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, Former National Chairman of the PDP who was at some point the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo among others were in the entourage of the visiting presidential aspirant.
The state Governor was joined at the meeting by his Deputy, Mr Moses Ekpo, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, Senator Anietie Okon, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Ibokessien, Senator Helen Esuene, the SSG, the Head of Service, Commissioners, the State Leadership of the PDP led by the Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo and other major stakeholders.

Beware of political masquerades in the Christian fold - Group warns
In a statement sent to Humbsblog.com on Wednesday, May 2, the group's national secretary, Arikpo Essien, said the message is misleading and aimed at causing disaffection among Nigerians.
FUNADE was of the opinion that it is either the message is from politicians masquerading as concerned Christians or from a truly misinformed concerned person.
The group advised Christian bodies to shun divisive and baseless rhetoric aimed at causing disunity among Christians and religious unrest in the country.
They noted that President Buhari had always picked southerners and Christians as his running mates, an indication which they said rubbishes the allegation that the Buhari’s presidency has an Islamist agenda.
Parts of the statement read, “The choice of Yemi Osinbajo in the ACN, ANPP, CPC, new PDP alliance that brought about the APC, was not Buhari’s choice. It was the choice of the Tinubu-led ACN.
An alliance essentially between the north and the south-west of Nigeria. “In two previous failed presidential campaigns of Buhari, his running mates were from the south east: Ume-Ezeoke and Chuba Okadigbo. So it's simply nonsense to suggest that Buhari chose Osinbajo in order to buy the silence of Christians.”
It further noted that the false allegations making the rounds on sections of social media are the handiwork of desperate politicians trying to divide the country by stoking religious tension among Nigerians, especially with the recurrent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in some parts of the country.
Pointing out that the killer herdsmen have not only desecrated place of worship of both Christians and Muslims, the group noted that the lives of all Nigerians matter more than the sentiments in messages from “politicians masquerading as concerned Christians or from a truly misinformed concerned persons” are spreading to further their selfish interests.
GOV. EMMANUEL MEETS WITH MBOHO MKPARAWA IBIBIO; SHEDS LIGHT ON DEATH OF IT PRESIDENT
Governor Emmanuel gave the condolence during an interaction with Executive members of the organisation led by the Vice President 1, Akparawa Obong Patrick Udofia in his office.
The Governor expressed sadness over the loss of a vibrant young man who had contributed to the unity, peace and development of the state and rose to the echelon of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio as it International President.
He wondered why people should make capital of a medical situation where best hands in the medical profession including his personal physician were deplored to ensure that the patient come out of a coma .
Hear him, "I have very experienced hands as a team of medical experts. Immediately i was alerted at a point of his unconsciousness, I directed the Commissioner for Health Dr Dominic Ukpong to hire available Air Ambulance for him to be flown out of the country for medical attention but the team of Doctors said that his state of health did not allow for such trip as his unconsciousness was progressing at a fast rate and there was no Air Ambulance that could sustain him at that condition to the destination.
We released the best Doctors we had including my personal Physical who stabilised the patient to consciousness at the hospital. I am yet to be told if there is any equipment that we needed that we didn't have.
Fortunately it was the same Neurosurgeon who carried out six brain surgeries in one night when we had the Reigners Bible Church building collapse that handled the case. All the six people operated upon as at that time are alive today."
The Governor said that autopsy conducted on the patient indicated that the deceased passed on as a result a medical condition known as embolism; simply put, blood clotting which can occur to any person in such a situation.
He said , "apparently that is why immediately he passed on, I ordered for autopsy to be carried at the Teaching Hospital and I got the result. What happen happens anywhere on planet earth ; embolism.
At times it happens to people who are at work. I've had the experience of a person who was at work in the morning by afternoon she was in the mortuary. The young Lady had some pains on the leg and took analgesic not knowing that blood was clotting, within a short period she passed on.
Governor Emmanuel who expressed surprise at the spate of negative comments trailing the Quaternary Medical Center where the deceased received treatment before the unfortunate incident, particularly frowned at the attitude of some people who went on internet to feast on the incident regardless of the deceased standing and privacy.
He maintained that Ibom Specialist Hospital remains the best in terms of personnel, equipment and services rendered.
"The Neurosurgeon did not come with any equipment, Every single equipment he needed we have it here and the people we selected to manage the hospital for now are the best we have in this state. From Nurses to Technicians managing the facility. We need to operate those equipment on 24hour basis pending when we will hand over to original managers. We have just signed MOU with Clinotech Group of Canada to take over the management of the hospital." He explained.
Governor Emmanuel used the occasion to commend members of the Organisation for the support given to the deceased and his family and warned people to desist from from speculating information capable of misleading the unsuspecting public.
Earlier, Akparawa Obong Patrick Udofia said that the Mboho was deeply touched by the demise of it leader whom he said had successfully piloted affairs of the organisation in a period of 46 out of the regular 48 months as stipulated by the constitution.
He added that Akparawa Etukakpan had begun the process of change of baton in the leadership of the Mboho before his sudden demise and thanked the Governor for his efforts towards the recovery of the late President, stressing that if it were possible to buy life for him to survive, the Governor would have spared no dime.
Akparawa Udofia expressed appreciation to Governor Emmanuel for his solidarity with the Mboho and assured him of more support from the Organisation.
Present at the occasion were Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Akparawa Obong Bassey Albert and some members of the State Executive Council.

Since videos and pictures of her romance with her boo Davido on her birthday went viral, she has being a target for cyber bullies.
A particular troll has picked on her as she says Chioma is only holding on to Davido because of his wealth.

Naira Rises
The local currency closed at N362 to a Dollar, while the Pound and the Euro traded at N505 and N442, respectively
The Nigerian Naira on Wednesday, May 2, maintained its appreciated rate at the parallel market against Dollar, Pound and Euro.
According to Humbsblog.com findings, the local currency maintained the same rates of N362 against Dollar, N505 per Pound rate and N442 per Euro as it closed on Tuesday, May 1.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continues to intervene in the interbank foreign exchange market, in line with its determination to sustain liquidity in the market and maintain stability.
Naira maintains strength against foreign currencies
At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira exchanged at N362 to the dollar, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed N504 and N436, respectively.
Trading at the investors’ window saw the Naira close at N360.67, while it closed at the CBN window N305.7.
Humbsblog.com previously reported that Naira on Monday, April 30, appreciated at the parallel market against Dollar, Pound and Euro.
The currency strengthened to N362 per US dollar as against the N363 rate it was on Friday, April 27.

As a rule, officer beginners undertake comprehensive programs. They usually come first or follow the joint recruit training. Red stage

The Red stage is also called a shakedown. Nigerian army training camp is the first place, which you see after getting off the bus. The instructor will order you to empty your bag to be convinced that you are not smuggling anything.
The primary purpose of you training at this stage is to start your transformation from a disordered volunteer to a confident soldier of the powerful Nigerian army. First, you will be taught the basics of soldiering and core army values. During Red stage, you will spend most of your time in the classroom. Various instructors will also test your physical abilities.

Study traditions, primary values, and ethics of the Nigerian armed forces

Duration: two weeks
The White stage is also called the “Gunfighter” stage. It mainly concentrates on developing your fight skills, with the superior accent on physical fitness training and weapons. At this stage, instructors will teach you how to recognize, track, and engage targets with a gun. The key thing that you should master at this stage is marksmanship. Moreover, much time will be dedicated to teamwork and self-discipline.

Police arrange senator Dino Melaye
Dino Melaye was arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Abuja by the police
He was brought into the courtroom in a stretcher
The Nigerian police has arraigned the senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye.
The lawmaker was arraigned by the police before a magistrate court on Wednesday, Thursday, May 2.
The Cable reports that Dino was brought into the courtroom in a stretcher as police officers took over the court premises preventing vehicular movement.
It was also gathered that the lawmaker was granted bail, although the police are allegedly planning to rearrest him.
The senator was earlier admitted at the National Hospital following an incident with the police in Abuja.
The lawmaker allegedly jumped out of a moving police van and was later admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital.
Also, the police had re-arrested all suspects who were recently declared wanted after they reportedly fled from police custody in Kogi state
The suspects were accused of working as political thugs and suspected assassins for Dino Melaye, a serving senator from Kogi west senatorial district
Two of the six suspects were said to have confessed to being armed and financed by Melaye

Heated demonstrations on Tuesday saw vehicles torched, a McDonald’s restaurant smashed up and vandalism at automobile shops. Those in custody Wednesday are suspected of offenses that include carrying prohibited weapons that fire projectiles.
